Los Antiguos and Bariloche
Since the bus ride from El Chalten to Bariloche would take 20 hours, we've decided to break it up and stayed in Los Antiguos for one night and head on the day afterwards. We feel it was the right decision and we did love our Hostel in Los Antiguos. It was located 1km outside of the town and we had the place practically to ourselves.
The owner drove us to the bus station the next morning, where we had to wait for over an hour since the bus got into a snow storm and they had to drive slow. We had very nice travel companions. Pablo who is already 78 and orginially from Cuba but living in Whyoming as well as Joann and Sophie from Australia. Pablo was the heart of the bus. He explained everything to us, gave tips and kept the driver company while the other driver slept. All together it was a good trip. We arrived late at night in Bariloche and headed to the Hostel by taxi.
The Patagonia summer is coming to an end and we felt this with strong and cold winds and plenty of rain. We rented a car for two days and visited the 7 lakes and the Circuito Chico. Since the weather wasn't that good and the Ironman 70.3 was in town on Sunday we were limited in our activities. Still we've enjoyed our time in the so called Swiss area of Argentina. We do think that the countryside has similarities to our Swiss lakes and nature but the town Bariloche or the chocolate they sell here are not close to what we know in Switzerland.
